COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKER (PART-TIME)
The Empowering Communities Programme is an initiative launched by the
Department of Rural and Community Development to target area-based
deprivation through a community development approach implemented
locally through Local Development Companies.
COUNTY KILDARE LEADER PARTNERSHIP as the Local Development Company for
County Kildare is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Worker who
will support the implementation of the Programme by strengthening,
developing, and facilitating relationships between the existing
community stakeholders and between community groups and statutory
agencies and structures. The Community Engagement Worker will be
responsible for ensuring that the core work of ECP is informed by and
driven by the community. To ensure effectiveness and efficiency in
this role, the Community Engagement Worker position will be based in
the Athy West Urban Area and will engage in wide-ranging face-to-face
contact with the residents and local community groups in the
community.
The successful candidate will be educated to a third-level
qualification in Community Development or a related field and will
have a minimum of three years’ experience in engaging with
disadvantaged groups in a professional or voluntary capacity. They
will also have excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation
skills, be able to demonstrate leadership skills and have experience
in designing and delivering capacity-building supports within the
community sector.
They should be proficient in MS packages, have very good
organisational and administration skills, and have a full driving
licence and their own transport.
